ZN63 VS1 12 Drawer Type Design Withdrawable Unit for Easy Maintenance

The ZN63(VS1)-12 Drawer-Type Vacuum Circuit Breaker is engineered with a drawer-type (withdrawable) design that revolutionizes maintenance and operational flexibility for 12kV medium-voltage switchgear. Unlike fixed-type breakers, this configuration allows the entire breaker unit to be easily rolled out of the switchgear on precision guide rails, enabling rapid inspection, servicing, or replacement without de-energizing the entire busbar system .

The withdrawable mechanism operates through a handcart propulsion system that moves the breaker between three distinct positions: "connected," "test," and "disconnected." In the "connected" position, the primary and secondary contacts are fully engaged, and the breaker is ready for normal operation. The "test" position allows control circuit verification while the main contacts remain isolated, and the "disconnected" position provides complete isolation for maintenance access . This design dramatically reduces downtime for breaker servicing.

The handcart unit is fully compatible with KYN28A-12 (GZS) center-mounted switchgear, the most widely used 12kV indoor switchgear platform . The breaker rolls into the cabinet on heavy-duty wheels with a self-aligning mechanism that ensures precise engagement of the primary disconnecting contacts. Integrated interlocks prevent the handcart from being moved when the breaker is closed, and prevent breaker closure unless the handcart is fully in the correct position.

Safety is enhanced through shutter mechanisms that automatically cover the fixed primary contacts when the handcart is withdrawn, protecting personnel from accidental contact with live parts . The draw-out design also simplifies annual inspections and major overhauls, as the entire breaker can be rolled to a maintenance workshop rather than serviced inside the confined switchgear compartment.
