ZN63 VS1 12 Fixed Breaker Installation Commissioning and Maintenance Guide

Proper installation, commissioning, and maintenance are essential to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of the ZN63(VS1)-12 Series Indoor Fixed-Type High-Voltage Vacuum Circuit Breaker. Following established procedures maximizes service life and minimizes operational risks in 12kV medium-voltage distribution systems.

 

Upon Receipt and Pre-Installation: Carefully inspect the breaker for any transit damage. Verify that all mounting bolts and electrical connections are securely tightened to specified torque values. Before installation, clean the epoxy resin insulators with a dry lint‑free cloth to remove dust or contaminants. Ensure the operating mechanism is in the open position and the closing spring is discharged before handling.

 

 

Installation into Fixed Switchgear: Ensure the mounting surface is level and rigid. Align the breaker's mounting holes with the cabinet's support structure and secure using appropriately sized bolts. Connect the primary circuit conductors, ensuring contact surfaces are clean and coated with conductive grease to prevent oxidation. Torque all primary connections to values specified in the product manual—typically 70‑80 N·m for M12 bolts—to prevent overheating under load.

 

Commissioning Verification Steps: (1) Conduct manual opening and closing operations at least five times to verify smooth mechanism function. (2) Check secondary control circuit connections and apply control voltage to verify electrical operation. (3) Measure insulation resistance of the main circuit using a 2500V megger; values should exceed 100MΩ. (4) Perform a power frequency withstand test at 42kV for one minute to verify insulation integrity. (5) Verify contact resistance using a micro‑ohmmeter; values should comply with specified limits.

 

Routine Maintenance: While the breaker is designed for minimal maintenance, periodic inspections are recommended every 3‑5 years or after severe fault interruptions. Check for signs of overheating, corrosion, or mechanical wear. Verify that all visible fasteners remain tight. The vacuum interrupters are sealed for life and require no internal maintenance; however, a power frequency withstand test can be performed to verify vacuum integrity. The closing bounce time ≤2ms and contact gap of 11±1mm should be verified during major overhauls.
